NAPL Basic Training May 5th

LNAPL Basics Training will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to noon on May 5, 2003, at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 Conference Center, 999 18th Street, Denver, Colorado. The course is open to all interested persons, and there will be no charge for participation in this training. The training will be presented by Mark Lyverse of ChevronTexaco and Bob Maxey of EPA.

The course provides a basic description of the behavior of LNAPLs (light nonaqueous phase liquids, and specifically petroleum hydrocarbon liquids) in the subsurface. The training presents the technical concepts involved in the behavior of LNAPL, discusses the application of these concepts to real-world situations, and explores how heterogeneity and other factors affect the behavior of LNAPL and complicate recovery. The training session was prepared by the Remediation Technologies Development Forum (RTDF) Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (NAPL) Cleanup Alliance. The alliance is a public-private partnership supported by the EPA Technology Innovation and Field Services Division.

To register for the NAPL Basics Training, please e-mail William Rothenmeyer of EPA Region 8 at rothenmeyer.william@epa.gov.
