This session will describe how to "build" your Exit Strategy - beginning with today's activities and ending with Corrective Action Complete. Learn how to establish risk-based endpoints, performance-based metrics, and decision logic flow diagrams that will provide the foundation for meeting facility and agency goals. RISK-BASED CLEANUPS AND LONG-TERM STEWARDSHIP
This session addresses risk-based cleanups and long-term stewardship—how they fit together. Acceptable risk-based cleanups must be coupled with effective, easy to implement and enforceable institutional controls to ensure the protectiveness of the chosen remedy into the future. Perspectives from industry, state and federal stakeholders will be explored.

LEARNING CORRECTIVE ACTION FROM THE EXPERTS
“Veterans” of corrective action will provide information and tips on how to get through the cleanup process effectively, including how to interact with state and EPA regulators on facility issues, how to choose a consultant, useful information resources, and the successful experience of a facility owners group in interacting with state regulators.

The 2020 Corrective Action Universe contains a large number of sites that will need to be assessed for potential vapor intrusion. EPA Region 3 is developing a Web-based tracking of Institutional Controls and Engineering Controls for RCRA Corrective Action sites. This presentation will demonstrate how to map these controls by linking the EPA’s Cleanups in my Community (CIMC) Web site to RCRAInfo as well as other mapping tools.

APPLYING PERFORMANCE-BASED REMEDIES – CASE STUDY, ALTUS AFB
A performance-based remedy relies on the attainment of corrective action objectives based on performance standards of source removal, treatment and containment. Come and learn how this approach was used at a site where insitu bioremediation through the use of bio-mulch walls proved effective in treating and containing TCE-contaminated groundwater.
